Netizens called out Inquirer.net, the official website of Philippine Daily Inquirer for “inadvertently using the word “borta” to describe Miss Universe Philippines 2020 2nd Runner-up Michele Gumabao.

Netizens went outraged over a social media post of Inquirer.net via Twitter wherein it described Michele Gumabao as “borta.”

According to Discreet Manila, borta is a word in gay lingo which means muscular or muscular man.

Meanwhile, Michele Gumabao had announced her retirement from the beauty pageants amid controversies in MUP 2020.

The volleyball star-turned-beauty queen made rounds online after MUP 2020 coronation due to her absence in the event’s later press conference.

Her absence during the viewing party stirred speculations about her being a sore loser and her lack of sportsmanship when in the first place she is an athlete.

But in a statement, she said: “I can handle defeat hahahaha I can’t handle the people asking me why why why… I’m sharing this with you because you deserve to know my side, we don’t need to defend to anyone. I did my very best and I have no regrets.”

Many people were actually rooting for her to have the crown but unfortunately, she lost it with Rabiya Mateo, a neophyte in the field.
