Michael Capati, the director for operations at MRT-3, said that officials of the rail line would announce within the day whether or not the suspension of operations would be rescheduled.

In an interview on ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo, he said that they’re reviewing it and they would make an announcement for the safety of the passengers, adding that they may cancel the weekend shutdown due to the coming strong typhoon.

MRT-3 earlier said that it would suspend operations on the said dates in order to give way for bushing replacement in the depot and also for turnout activities at the Taft Avenue Station.

Capati also said that there may also be adjustments in MRT-3 operations if the impact of typhoon “Rolly” would be severe.

Capati’s statement came after the the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that tropical cyclone wind signals No. 3 and 4 may be raised in several parts of the Philippines in the coming days as typhoon “Rolly” was forecasted to further intensify.

The U.S. Navy’s Joint Typhoon Warning Center warned that the tropical cyclone may be quickly intensified into a “super typhoon” before it made landfall on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health had recorded 1,761 newly-reported COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. of October 29, 2020, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 376,935.
