Senate Hearing Shocked by Allegation Involving Senator in Human Trafficking Case
Atty. Levito “Levi” Baligod, lawyer of former members of the Philippine Marines, made a serious claim during a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on June 4, 2026.
He suggested that a senator may be involved in human trafficking and in allegedly selecting and buying women. The hearing continued under Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano, together with former soldiers who submitted a joint sworn statement regarding their accusations.
Baligod explained that the written statement of the ex-soldiers only shows part of what they know. He said the document was purposely limited and should be seen only as a small part of a much bigger story. According to him, they did not include all the details so that government agencies could conduct their own investigation into the matter.
He added that their statements were meant to serve as a starting point for a formal investigation, where more complete information could later be presented. He stressed that the goal was for the authorities to properly examine the claims instead of revealing everything immediately in public.

Baligod also claimed that the former soldiers personally witnessed incidents involving a senator allegedly linked to human trafficking. He said the senator was reportedly selecting women, and that soldiers were allegedly involved in bringing these women into rooms where the senator was present. He clarified that these accounts came from his clients based on what they said they witnessed.
However, Baligod made it clear that the senator he was referring to was not among those attending the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing at that time. Present during the session were Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano and Senators Rodante Marcoleta, Imee Marcos, Robin Padilla, and Pia Cayetano.

Before he could explain further, Baligod was interrupted by some senators, which prevented him from giving more details. Because of this, no additional information was shared during the hearing.
