Imee Marcos Raises Concerns Over Alleged Pressure in the Impeachment Process
IMEE MARCOS – The senator has expressed concern over what she described as reported pressure surrounding the upcoming impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte.
In a statement posted online, she said there are claims that the Office of the Ombudsman may file cases against lawmakers who do not support the impeachment vote. The impeachment process has already progressed in the House of Representatives after the House Committee on Justice approved the articles of impeachment with a 55–0 vote on May 4, 2026. For the case to advance to the Senate, it must secure at least one-third support from House members during the plenary vote scheduled for May 11, 2026.
“Nakakatakot dahil kakasuhan ka raw kapag hindi ka bumoto para sa impeachment ni VP Sara. tama ba ‘yon? Nakakatakot talaga,” she said.

Senator Marcos said she is concerned that lawmakers may be influenced or pressured ahead of the vote. She mentioned reports suggesting possible legal action from the Ombudsman against those who will not support the impeachment. She also cited other government agencies, including the Department of Justice, the National Bureau of Investigation, and the Securities and Exchange Commission, which were allegedly being linked to possible cases against dissenting lawmakers.
She further noted that the situation appears troubling, suggesting that both financial influence and intimidation may be affecting the political process. According to her, these developments raise concerns about fairness and transparency in decision-making.

Her remarks were shared through a video posted on her social media account, where she voiced concern over what she described as increasing tension in the impeachment process.
As of now, the Office of the Ombudsman has not issued any official statement confirming or denying her claims. The other agencies mentioned have also not responded. The matter remains under public attention as the scheduled House plenary vote approaches.
