GIRLTRENDS – The former girl group is once again gaining attention online after their 2019 viral dance video resurfaced on social media during Coachella season.
The clip shows the members dancing out of sync during a segment on a noontime show, and it has since become a regular source of memes, especially whenever the annual Coachella Festival takes place in Indio, California. This year, the event drew even more interest from Filipino audiences due to the presence of Filipino performers, bringing the old video back into the spotlight.
On April 14, 2026, an Instagram post featuring the song “How Do You Sleep” by Sam Smith, along with the group’s dance clip, started circulating again. The post jokingly suggested that the group might perform at Coachella in the future. The caption showed that people are still making jokes about sending them to the festival, which caught the attention of former member Chie Filomeno.
She reacted in a light and playful way, sharing that they had once again become the subject of jokes. She also reposted it on her Instagram Story, pointing out how the group trends every Coachella season. Similar posts spread across platforms like Instagram and Facebook, while a radio station also joined in by jokingly asking if the group had performed at the festival.
GirlTrends debuted in 2016 with 22 members, many of whom are now active in their own careers in the entertainment industry. Despite their early popularity, the group faced several challenges. In a recent interview, former member Dawn Chang explained that many of them already had prior commitments before joining the group, which made it difficult to gather everyone for rehearsals. She also shared that not all members had strong experience in dancing or performing on stage, making it hard for them to stay in sync. She admitted that she also missed some rehearsals and tried to help by offering free dance lessons, drawing from her background as a ballet and jazz teacher.
