Balikbayan Boxes Scattered on Road After Delivery Truck Got Into Accident
Several balikbayan boxes were seen scattered along a road in Atimonan, Quezon Province after a delivery truck got into an accident.
Recently, Melyn in HK, a Facebook user, shared a photo of some balikbayan boxes scattered along the road in Quezon Province. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
The incident happened along the diversion road on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. The photo shows dozens of boxes lying on the roadside. Many were concerned about the condition of the boxes and whether their contents remained intact.

According to reports, the balikbayan boxes were still sealed at the time of the accident. However, as they lay on the road, some were allegedly opened by individuals who came across the scene.
“Baka isa na sa mga box nyo ang narito , na aksidente ang LBC sa part ng atimonan,” Melyn said.
Unfortunately, a few people wrongly assumed that the local residents who helped clean up were trying to steal the boxes. Eventually, it was clarified that those seen in the photos were volunteers who stepped in to help clear the mess and secure the packages.

“My caption was not referring to the people in this photo. Sila ang mga volunteers na naglinis ng mga kalat kaya sa nag sasabi na magnanakaw ang mga taga sta catalina mahiya ka lalo at dayo ka lang dyan,” she added.
Locals defended their community, especially the people of Sta. Catalina, stating that the accusations were unfair and came from outsiders who didn’t know the real story.
Authorities are still looking into the full details of the incident to understand what caused the accident and to ensure that all packages are returned to their rightful owners.
Meanwhile, people online are hoping that the senders and recipients of these balikbayan boxes, often filled with gifts and personal items from overseas, will still receive them safely despite the incident.
