John Lloyd Cruz was the hardest ex to move on from, says Kaye Abad
KAYE ABAD – The actress disclosed that among her past relationships, it was particularly challenging for her to move on from John Lloyd Cruz, especially since they had to continue working together on a project following their breakup.
During a guest appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” she revealed that despite already being separated, she and Cruz were cast as a love team in the now-defunct ABS-CBN series “Tabing-Ilog.” “Nahihirapan akong mag-move on kasi magkatrabaho kami, magka-love team kami. Umabot sa point na mag-asawa kami sa ‘Tabing-Ilog,’” she said.
She expressed the difficulty of moving on, citing instances when they had to conceal their interactions, even resorting to sneaking around to spend time together. Abad mentioned that Cruz’s subsequent relationship with another woman added to her struggle in letting go.
“Ayaw na ng parents ko. Nagtatago kami sa yaya ko kasi kapag wala nang take, makikisingit ako sa dressing room nila para magkasama kami,” she said. “Tapos nagka-girlfriend siya after ko. Hindi na niya ako pinapansin kasi nagseselos ‘yung girlfriend sa akin so nahihirapan ako,” she added.
Abad empathized with Cruz’s girlfriend at the time, understanding the inevitable intimacy required by their on-screen partnership. Despite their past, Abad maintained that she comprehended the other woman’s perspective.
Additionally, Abad shared insights into her amicable breakup with singer Chito Miranda, highlighting that they remained friends even after parting ways and often attended each other’s significant life events, such as weddings. Watch her interview in the video below:
Reflecting on her past, Abad disclosed her youthful celebrity crush on Patrick Garcia, and she mentioned Piolo Contis’ attempt to court her, though they opted to remain friends. Currently married to Paul Jake Castillo, Abad is content with her family life, blessed with two sons.
