Brunei Prince Abdul Mateen is set to marry his fiancée
BRUNEI – Prince Abdul Mateen is set to tie the knot with his fiancée, Anisha Isa Kalebic, in a grand royal wedding spanning from January 7 to January 16, 2024.
The 32-year-old Prince, son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, is marrying Anisha, the granddaughter of Pehin Dato Isa, a special advisor to the Sultan, and the owner of the fashion brand Silk Collective.
The couple announced their engagement in October 2023, after years of dating, and shared their first portrait on Instagram on December 31, 2023, just days before the elaborate 10-day wedding event. Prince Mateen captioned the photo with a wish for the best in 2024, accompanied by a wedding ring emoticon.
The wedding festivities will include an Islamic ceremony on January 11 and a wedding reception and parade in the capital city, Bandar Seri Begawan, on January 14. The elaborate celebration reflects the royal status of Prince Mateen, who is often seen accompanying his father in official royal engagements, including the coronation of King Charles in May 2023 and the funeral of Queen Elizabeth in September 2022.
The wedding is not just a one-day affair, showcasing the cultural and traditional significance of the event. Prince Mateen has been actively involved in official duties, maintaining his role as the fourth son of Sultan Bolkiah and the tenth child overall.
Given the historical ties between the Brunei royal family and the British royals, there is speculation that Prince William and Kate Middleton might attend the wedding, as Sultan Bolkiah was a guest at their wedding in 2011. The anticipation for this cross-cultural celebration adds an extra layer of excitement to an already extravagant event.
As the couple prepares for their special day, the public awaits the details of the royal wedding, anticipating the opulence and cultural richness that will mark the union of Prince Abdul Mateen and Anisha Isa Kalebic.
