In the wake of Gilas Pilipinas’ losses at the FIBA World Cup, Gretchen Ho shared that MVP is “a little disappointed”
MVP – Manny V. Pangilinan is “a little disappointed” about the not-so-good performance of Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA World Cup 2023.
The head of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and the leader of the MVP Group witnessed Gilas having a series of losses over the long weekend right from the sidelines of the arena.
Gretchen Ho, a TV host and news presenter at MVP’s TV5, shared the same feelings when she took a picture with the top executive. “Boss was a little disappointed over the loss,” she wrote while standing next to a serious-faced Pangilinan. “But how else would you have it!”
Pangilinan and the SBP funded the Philippines’ special hosting of FIBA events in the country, which will continue until September 10, 2023.
To recall, Gilas Pilipinas faced the Dominican Republic in the 2023 FIBA World Cup on August 25 at the Philippine Arena. The game set a new FIBA attendance record with 38,115 spectators. However, the Philippine men’s national basketball team fell short with a score of 87-81.
On Sunday, August 27, the Philippine men’s national basketball team played against Angola. However, Gilas Pilipinas suffered a defeat with a score of 70-80. More recently, they played against Italy but lost with a score of 83-90.
Unfortunately, some have been blaming coach Chot Reyes for the losses of Gilas Pilipinas. Among those who criticized Reyes is no other than motivational speaker Rendon Labador.
Meanwhile, Gilas Pilipinas is made up of players like Kiefer Ravena, Jordan Clarkson, Scottie Thompson, Kai Sotto, Jamie Malonzo, June Mar Fajardo, Roger Pogoy, CJ Perez, Rhenz Abando, Dwight Ramos, Japeth Aguilar, and A. J. Edu.
