Earlier, the DOJ secretary announced that he recently underwent heart bypass surgery. According to him, he will be able to return to work next week. “I was cleared for discharge five days after the procedure, on the sixth-day nakauwi na ako, so naoperahan ako ng Tuesday (June 27), nakauwi ako ng Monday (July 3),” he revealed during a press briefing.
He further explained that doctors discovered blockages in his heart during his annual check-up from June 21 to 23. “So agad-agad noong June 23 ang sabi ko sa mga doktor na tumingin sa akin, lalo na ‘yung cardiologist, sabi ko magpapa-bypass ako and let’s prepare for it as soon as possible,” added the Justice chief.
It can be recalled that Remulla filed for a ten-day “wellness leave” back in June, which took effect immediately.
