Promodiser lands in jail after stealing two packs of chocolate worth P400

THEFT – A 30-year-old promodiser at a department store in I.T. Park, Barangay Apas, Cebu City was arrested on April 17, 2023, for stealing two packs of chocolates worth P400.

In the Philippines, theft is a criminal offense defined as the taking of someone else’s personal property without the owner’s consent and with the intention of gaining ownership of the property or depriving the owner of its use. The Revised Penal Code of the Philippines outlines the elements of theft and the corresponding penalties for the offense.

The penalty for theft depends on the value of the stolen property and ranges from arresto menor (imprisonment of one day to 30 days) to reclusion perpetua (imprisonment for 20 years and one day to 40 years). Repeat offenders may also face more severe penalties.

Additionally, Philippine law recognizes aggravated forms of theft, such as theft committed by a person who has access to the stolen property by virtue of his or her position or employment, which carries a higher penalty.

Speaking of which, a promodiser at a department store in I.T. Park, Cebu City was arrested for stealing two packs of chocolates worth P400. Senior Master Sergeant Enrique Manulong of Mabolo Police Station identifed the suspect as John Restee Amore, a resident of Barangay Buhisan, Cebu City. He is now detained at the Mabolo Police Station.

After finishing his shift at the supermarket, Amore was subjected to a body search by a security guard, who found the two packs of chocolates attached to his buttock. Amore pleaded for forgiveness from the store’s management but will face a theft case according to SunStar Cebu.
