Earlier, a man identified as John Lloyd Jimenez was arrested and imprisoned after he stole the cellphone of a 14-year-old Grade 8 student and threatened her with a cutter at Rizal Park in Manila.

The victim was walking with her classmates along Taft Avenue when the incident occurred. The victim had taken out her phone to send a message to her parents when Jimenez suddenly grabbed it and hit her on the cheek. The victim tried to reason with Jimenez, but he pulled out a cutter and threatened her.

Frightened, the victim complied, and Jimenez fled the scene. The victim immediately sought help from traffic enforcers, who responded quickly and pursued Jimenez. He was apprehended, and the stolen cellphone and cutter were recovered from him.

It was later discovered that Jimenez had a previous criminal record for theft. When asked about his actions, Jimenez claimed that he did it because of his wife’s serious medical condition.

She had been diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer, and he was desperate for money to pay for her medical expenses. Jimenez expressed remorse for his actions and asked for forgiveness.
