Topnotcher in physician board exam receives a brand-new car from his alma mater
PHYSICIAN BOARD EXAM – A topnotcher in the October 2022 Physician Licensure Examination received a brand-new car from his alma mater.
It was on Thursday, November 10, 2022, when the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released the results of the board examinations for physicians. Out of 5,958 who took the PLE, 3,826 passed the exam.
Among the passers is Mark Johnuel M. Duavis of the University of Cebu School of Medicine in Mandaue City. He ranked 10 with an average of 87.08 %.
As a reward for being a topnotcher, he received a brand-new Toyota Wigo from his alma mater. The vehicle cost more than half a million pesos.
It has been a tradition of the university to give incentives to students who are topnotchers in the licensure exams. This is to encourage the students to do well in their licensure exams.
Meanwhile, Mark Johnuel hails from Buenavista, Bohol. His father is a public school teacher while her mom is a public school nurse.
It was in 2011 when he graduated from nursing and eventually passed the nursing board exam. In the next six years, he worked as a nurse at a government organization and the Department of Health (DOH) regional office.
Mark Johnuel was not hoping that he would pursue medicine until he was offered a scholarship by DOH. The health department covered more than half of his tuition and fees. He also applied for a scholarship in his school to cover the remainder.
At first, he was hesitant because it’s been a long time since he stopped studying. Last year, he finished as class valedictorian.
When he took the board exam, he did not expect that he would pass it. His next plan is to serve as a doctor in the barrio or at a government hospital.
