4 LTO Officers Relieved Over Alleged Extortion in Navotas

LTO Removes 4 Enforcers Linked to Navotas Extortion Case

Four law enforcement officers from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) have been temporarily relieved of their duties following their alleged involvement in an extortion incident in Navotas City last week.

The personnel, who are assigned to the agency’s National Capital Region office, were reportedly linked to the incident that occurred on April 23 along C3 Road. In response, they were directed to immediately surrender all law enforcement equipment and related materials to the Operations Division within 24 hours of receiving their reassignment or relief orders. This move is intended to allow for a smooth and unbiased investigation while removing them from active field operations.

According to the LTO, the action reflects the agency’s firm stance against any form of misconduct among its personnel. The leadership stressed that maintaining discipline, professionalism, and integrity within the organization remains a top priority. By acting swiftly on the issue, the agency aims to reinforce public trust and show that violations, especially those involving abuse of authority, are taken seriously and addressed accordingly.

The LTO also assured the public that a thorough and fair investigation is already underway to uncover the full details surrounding the allegations. The process will carefully review all available evidence to ensure that any findings are based on facts and due process. If the officers are proven to have committed wrongdoing, the agency confirmed that appropriate sanctions will be imposed in line with existing laws and internal regulations.

In addition, the LTO encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any incidents involving misconduct or abuse of power by its personnel. Public cooperation plays a key role in promoting accountability and transparency. Through these efforts, the agency hopes to strengthen its commitment to ethical service and ensure safer, more trustworthy operations for the public.
