JV Ejercito Refutes Claims He Is Defensor’s Protector
JV EJERCITO – The senator strongly denied accusations that he was protecting former congressman Mike Defensor following a recent raid conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
He clarified that his earlier remarks were misunderstood by some people who relied only on headlines instead of reading the full reports. He expressed frustration over being labeled as a protector, saying the claim did not make sense and did not reflect his actual position.
Ejercito explained that he fully supports the NBI’s operation, especially since illegal activities were reportedly discovered during the raid. He emphasized that his main point was to remind authorities that no one, particularly those who are wealthy or influential, should escape accountability if found involved in wrongdoing. His call was for fairness and equal enforcement of the law, not protection of any individual.
“Mukhang di nanaman ako naintindihan ng ilan tungkol sa raid ng NBI. Protector pa daw ako ngayon ni Defensor! Labo ah!” Ejercito said. “Ako ay nagpaalala lang na di dapat na makalusot lalo na ang mayayaman at makapangyarihan na nasangkot! Sana basahin ng maigi hindi ang titulo lamang ng article,” the senator added.
The senator had earlier called for a Senate investigation into the NBI raid on a KTV bar and hotel in Pasig City. Following the operation, the NBI filed drug and human trafficking complaints against the wife and son of Defensor in connection with the raided establishment. These developments intensified public attention and speculation, which led to the misunderstanding of Ejercito’s statements.
Meanwhile, Defensor’s wife, Julie, firmly denied all allegations linking her and her son to human trafficking. She described the accusations as baseless and malicious, insisting that they have no connection to the establishment or its operations. She also challenged NBI Director Melvin Matibag to stop involving them as collateral damage in what she claimed to be a personal or political conflict with her husband.
