John Amores Responds to Rumors and Announces Lechon Manok Venture
JOHN AMORES – The controversial basketball player has spoken out after being romantically linked with Vice President Sara Duterte.
Amores recently appeared on the popular YouTube show Pinoy Pawnstars, hosted by “Boss Toyo,” bringing with him two significant items: his Jose Rizal University (JRU) basketball jersey, worn during the infamous NCAA brawl, and a letter from Vice President Sara Duterte.
He initially sought to sell both items for ₱200,000. However, after some negotiation, the final price was agreed upon at ₱67,500. Amores plans to use the proceeds to kick-start his lechon manok business, Amores Lechon Manok: Mapapa-knockout ka sa sarap! While currently unemployed, he hopes the business will provide a successful new chapter in his life. He also mentioned that once he has enough money, he intends to buy back his jersey, as it holds significant personal value.
John Amores decided to sell these items as part of his effort to move forward after the controversy that surrounded him in 2022. During National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 98, Amores was involved in a physical altercation with players from the College of Saint Benilde, leading to his indefinite suspension from the sport.
Amores received a letter from Vice President Sara Duterte during the height of the issue, offering him words of encouragement and advice amidst the intense online criticism he was facing. This letter provided Amores with some much-needed support as he navigated the aftermath of his actions.
However, the letter sparked controversy, and rumors spread about an alleged secret relationship between Amores and Vice President Sara Duterte. He clarified that the rumors about him being her “kabit” (mistress) were false, including claims that she had given him a resort and a gas station. He denied these rumors, stating that the only thing he received from the Vice President was the letter, which he had framed and showed to Boss Toyo.
