Raquel Pempengco Reacts to Stell’s “All By Myself” Performance at David Foster Concert

Stell’s “All By Myself” Performance at David Foster Concert Earns Reaction from Raquel Pempengco

RAQUEL PEMPENGCO – The mother of Jake Zyrus, formerly known as Charice Pempengco, reacted to SB19 member Stell’s performance of “All By Myself” at the David Foster concert.

Charice was David Foster’s muse during the Hitman: David Foster and Friends performances in 2010 and subsequent years. Charice received praise for her unique singing voice and her rendition of “All By Myself,” originally popularized by Celine Dion. Charice is now known as Jake Zyrus.

Currently, SB19 vocalist Stell Ajero is gaining attention and acclaim. Similar to Charice, Stell impressed audiences with his performance of “All By Myself” during the Hitman show at Araneta Coliseum on June 18, 2024.

Raquel Pempengco, Charice’s mother, jokingly commented on Stell’s performance on Facebook, saying, “Gulatin mo din mga tao…mag-Charice Pempengco ka ulit…hahaha joke lang pero in fairness magaling si Stell Ajero…mala-Jed Madela din but still don’t compare with Charice.” Aware that her opinion might attract criticism, she added, “Oops just saying lang ha…It’s my own opinion…Dadami n naman busher ko…Peace yow!”

Raquel anticipated backlash from netizens. In 2023, she faced criticism for her comments on Morissette Amon’s performances of “I Will Always Love You” and “I Have Nothing” at the Hitman: David Foster and Friends show at Solaire Resort & Casino in March 2023. These songs, originally by Whitney Houston, were part of Charice’s repertoire during her time in the concert series.

Kahit kanino mo pa ipakanta yang song mo.. Di mabibigyan ng hustisya. NO GOOSEBUMPS. NO STANDING OVATION… Nothing compares…Nag-iisang legendary ng Pilipinas si Charice Pempengco.”
