Bong Go Criticized by Baste Duterte
BASTE DUTERTE – The Davao City Mayor criticized Senator Bong Go again, following earlier remarks questioning Go’s silence on Davao City issues.
Sebastian “Baste” Zimmerman Duterte is a politician currently serving as the Mayor of Davao City since June 30, 2022. He previously held the position of vice mayor from 2019 to 2022. As the youngest son of the 16th President Rodrigo Duterte and Elizabeth Zimmerman, he comes from a notable political family, being the younger brother of Vice President Sara Duterte.
In 2019, Duterte ran uncontested for vice mayor alongside his sister Sara, who was then the incumbent mayor, under the Hugpong ng Pagbabago ticket, securing their victory. He has served as acting mayor on two occasions: from July to September 2019 and from September to October 2020.
On the other hand, Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Tesoro Go has served as a senator since 2019. Known for his close association with President Rodrigo Duterte, Go initially started as Duterte’s personal aide back in 1998 when Duterte was still a local official in Davao City. Over the years, Go has played pivotal roles in Duterte’s political career, serving as Special Assistant to the President from 2016 to 2018, overseeing the Presidential Management Staff.
Go was born into a family of Chinese Filipino descent, the son of businessman Desiderio Go and Marichu Tesoro-Go. His grandfather, August Tesoro, founded one of Davao City’s largest printing companies. He completed his education at Ateneo de Davao University, earning a degree in marketing after transferring from De La Salle University.
Meanwhile, Davao City Mayor Sebastian ‘Baste’ Duterte recently criticized Senator Bong Go again, following earlier remarks questioning Go’s silence on Davao City issues. Mayor Duterte called on Go to stand against tyranny and criticized him for lacking conviction, even labeling Duterte’s father’s longtime aide as “weak”. Senator Go has not responded to the mayor’s criticisms at this time.
