ABS-CBN Lambasted by Gadon
LARRY GADON – The Presidential Adviser for Poverty Alleviation secretary criticized ABS-CBN.
Lorenzo “Larry” Gacilo Gadon is a Filipino politician and disbarred lawyer, known for his controversial public statements and hardline political stances. He has served as the Presidential Adviser for Poverty Alleviation under President Bongbong Marcos since June 26, 2023.
Gadon gained prominence as part of the legal team for former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. He has run unsuccessfully for the Senate in the 2016, 2019, and 2022 elections. He is recognized for his strong opposition to perceived liberals and communists and his role as co-host on the radio program “Karambola” on DWIZ-AM since 2019.
His career has been marred by multiple controversies, including his harsh criticisms of ABS-CBN, which he accused of spreading lies. He was disbarred by the Supreme Court of the Philippines for misogynistic and abusive remarks, particularly against journalist Raissa Robles. Gadon has faced numerous disbarment complaints for his behavior, including public profanity and offensive language.
Despite these issues, Gadon has continued to wield influence in Philippine politics, notably filing an impeachment complaint against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, which led to her removal from office. He also supported an impeachment complaint against Associate Justice Marvic Leonen, which was later dismissed.
Gadon is currently making waves online after criticizing ABS-CBN in an interview with Terry Ridon of DWPM Radyo 630. He claimed that the Kapamilya Network is full of lies and slander. “Puro kasinungalingan ang ginagawa ng ABS-CBN dapat talagang sunugin ‘yang studio na ‘yan eh. Sunugin ‘yung kanilang mga pamamaraan para hindi na nila gawin,” he said.
Ridon mentioned to Gadon that they were currently broadcasting on ABS-CBN. Gadon, seemingly unfazed, continued his tirade against the network. “Dapat ‘yung ABS-CBN na ‘yan nu’ng binawian ng franchise ‘yan eh… lumipat na kayo ng istasyon dahil ‘yang ABS-CBN na ‘yan, walang kuwentang istasyon ‘yan, puro paninira,” he said. “Isipin mo na isinaksak nila sa bibig ko, na sinabi ko raw eh wala nang kahirapan sa Pilipinas kaya naman nag-react itong mga Gabriela at saka ano… walang kuwentang istasyon ‘yan,” he added.
