Diwata in Batang Quiapo
DIWATA – The social media personality and entrepreneur whose real name is Deo Jarito Balbuena recounted his involvement with the TV show “Batang Quiapo.”
During an interview with a vlogger, Diwata mentioned attending one of the tapings of the program led by action star Coco Martin. He mentioned that while he has already completed his part in the taping, he was uncertain about the schedule for the next one. Nonetheless, he eagerly awaits its airing and encouraged his followers to watch out for his appearance.
“Yeah tapos na ang taping ko sa ‘Batang Quiapo,’ pero next taping, hindi ko pa alam kung kailan. Pero nag-taping na ako. So, waiting na lang kung kailan ipapalabas. Abangan n’yo ko dun,” he said.
Confirmation of his cameo came when he was spotted in the end credits of “Batang Quiapo.” Diwata disclosed that he portrayed himself on the show and would also be depicted as the owner of a ‘Paresan’ business. In a humorous tone, he remarked on experiencing the life of a star as an extra in the show, jokingly expressing a reluctance to pursue such a career path.
However, he assured his audience that despite any newfound success, he remained true to his authentic self as ‘Diwata’, promising not to let fame change him. Reflecting on his journey to fame, he recalled how vloggers initially spotlighted his business, leading to his emergence in the public eye. His fame soared after a humorous incident in 2016 caught the attention of news programs, quickly turning him into a viral sensation and meme due to his distinctive and amusing personality.
“FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” is a Philippine action-comedy drama TV series aired on Kapamilya Channel, directed by Malu L. Sevilla, Darnel Joy R. Villaflor, Coco Martin, and Kevin de Vela. It stars Coco Martin as the lead character, Tanggol, based on the 1986 film of the same name featuring Fernando Poe Jr. and Maricel Soriano. The series follows Tanggol’s journey as he becomes a prominent figure in the Quiapo neighborhood, seeking acceptance from his parents and uncovering truths about his identity along the way.
