Claudine Barretto’s Pledge to Wear Rico Yan’s Watch Again
CLAUDINE BARRETTO – Actress Claudine Barretto granted the netizen’s request to wear late actor Rico Yan’s watch again.
Rico Yan passed away on March 29, 2002, at the age of 27, coinciding with Good Friday, due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis. At the time of his passing, he was vacationing in Palawan with his friend Dominic Ochoa, who also found his body.
Their romantic-comedy film “Got 2 Believe,” in which Rico starred alongside Claudine Barretto, was still being screened in cinemas during that period. Premiering on February 27, 2002, it quickly became a box office hit and continued its run even after Rico’s death, leading to an extended screening period.
As reported by PEP, serious issues had already arisen in the relationship between Claudine Barretto and Rico Yan when the press conference for “Got 2 Believe” took place. However, they managed to conceal the truth from the entertainment press during the film’s promotions, even going so far as to travel in separate vans.
It eventually came to light that they had ended their relationship while “Got 2 Believe” was still being shown in cinemas, making it Rico’s final movie.
Claudine Barretto responded to a fan’s request regarding a wristwatch that the late actor Rico Yan had given her. On April 3, 2024, Claudine shared her outfit of the day (OOTD) on Instagram, proudly displaying the new shoes gifted to her by Yasser Marta.
Claudine and Yasser co-starred in the recently concluded GMA-7 series “Lovers/Liars” and have also been romantically linked.
Expressing her gratitude, Claudine said, “Super late thank you @itsyassermarta luv my Rubber shoes [shoe, smiling face emojis]”
Yasser commented, “Bagay sayo [smiling emoji]”
Claudine responded, “Thank you two times ko na nasuot”
According to a netizen, she couldn’t stop crying because of Claudine’s strength in accepting Rico’s death.
The netizen said, “Do you still wear parin po ba yung watch ni Rico yan pls wear it po I can’t stop crying because how strong are you po na nsakapag moved on ka sakanya pls po ate claudine suotin nyo po mahal na mahal ko po kayo”
Claudine agreed to the netizen’s request to wear Rico’s watch again. She replied, “awww dahil gusto mo sige isusuot ko yung WATCH NYA.Gusto ko happy lang lagi mga friends not Fans ha kasi para sakin ang fans ang tunay na kaibigan.”
