Here’s Claudine Barretto Tribute To Ex-BF Rico Yan On His 22nd Death Anniversary
CLAUDINE BARRETTO – Optimum Star Claudine Barretto paid tribute to her ex-boyfriend and former love-team partner Rico Yan on his 22nd death anniversary.
The pair was one of the most beloved on-screen couples during the late ’90s and early 2000s. Yan and Barretto were featured in successful series such as “Mula Sa Puso” and “Saan Ka Man Naroroon,” as well as headlined in box-office hits like “Got 2 Believe.”
Tragically, Yan passed away in his sleep on March 29, 2002, due to hemorrhagic pancreatitis while vacationing in Palawan.
Claudine Barretto commemorated the 22nd anniversary of Rico Yan’s passing, her former boyfriend and on-screen partner, with a heartfelt tribute.
On Friday, March 29, Barretto shared an Instagram reel featuring a fan-edited video. The reel included moments of Barretto visiting Yan’s grave, snapshots of their time together as a couple, and a snippet from one of her interviews where she expressed her wish for fans to always remember the actor.
“March 29, my heart stopped (heart broken emojis) #alwaysandforever,” wrote the actress in her caption.

In the comment section of her post, supporters expressed gratitude to Barretto for commemorating the departed actor even after numerous years, describing their bond as one of “unconditional love.”
“I don’t believe it when other people say that unconditional love doesn’t exist in this world. Seeing how much you love Rico even after 22 years is the real evidence of your undying and unconditional love for him. We love you both Claudine and Ry!” wrote one netizen.
