MAYONNAISE – A fan who attended the concert of the Filipino rock band was mistaken for the group’s lead singer.

Recently, a certain Kester Fajardo took to the social networking site Facebook, where he shared a candid moment of being mistaken for Monty Macalino, the frontman of Mayonnaise. According to him, he went to Mapandan in Pangasinan to watch the rock band’s concert during the town fiesta.

At one point, he stepped outside to buy something to drink. Then, the vendor asked if he was the lead singer of Mayonnaise. He simply replied “secret” while asking if she could take a picture with him.

Apparently, people started lining up eagerly to have a photo with him. Eventually, things got out of hand. After the photo ops, he decided to return to the concert venue.

Meanwhile, Mayonnaise is a Filipino alternative rock band composed of vocalist Monty Macalino, drummer Shan Regalado, guitarist Carlo Servano, bassist Nikki Tirona, and guitarist Keano Swing. The group rose to fame after winning the “Red Horse Muziklaban” contest in 2004.

Their 2005 hit song “Jopay” regained popularity in 2022 thanks to TikTok. The “Greatest What If” TikTok video, inspired by the 2022 film “Ngayon Kaya,” became popular on social media. “Jopay” reached even Generation Z and Generation Alpha, peaking at number 10 on the Spotify Top 50 Philippines.
