If you want a Pochero de Cebu recipe, let us start with preparing the ingredients in cooking this delicious dish. Here are the ingredients needed in cooking this dish that can serve up to four (4) people:

  • one (1) kilogram beef shank, cut into serving pieces
  • 6 cups water
  • 2 pieces onions, quartered
  • 2 pcs. Knorr Beef Cube
  • 2 pcs. potatoes, quartered
  • corn cobs
  • 2 pcs. finger chili
  • 1/4 piece pechay, sliced

The other important part of the Pochero de Cebu recipe is the cooking process. Undeniably, it will take hours to really make sure that the beef is fork tender. Meanwhile, a soft and tender beef is really worth the wait.

In cooking Pochero de Cebu, it may take two (2) to three (3) hours if you really want a fork tender beef. Here are the steps in preparing this delicious dish:

Fill a large pot with water and place it over high heat. Add the beef shank and cover it until it boils. It is called the blanching technique to remove any impurities and dirty in the meat and bones. After the boiling process, remove the water.

In another pot, add six (6) cups of water and drop the Knorr Beef Cubes, the beef shanks, corn cobs, and onions. Bring it to boil before reducing the heat to a simmer until the beef is tender.

Add the potato slices to the pot. Add the finger chili and let it simmer until the potatoes are fork tender.

Add the cabbage to the pot and let it simmer for at least two (2) minutes. Transfer the dish into a bowl and serve it with rice. Enjoy your meal!
