Kris Aquino: “My battle has become more complex but I promised my sons & my sisters – I won’t be a wimp.”

KRIS AQUINO – The Queen of All Media said that her battle with autoimmune diseases has “become more complex”.

The former actress-host posted a series of videos on her Instagram account where she gave an update about her battle with autoimmune diseases. According to her, her health condition has not improved since her last post in November 2023.

She revealed that she’s feeling weak since Thanksgiving, had lost her appetite despite “existing mostly on milk”, and had to deal with recurring headaches.

Kris shared that she was having dizzy spells and her blood pressure had very weird fluctuations, adding that she was reluctant to post photos on social media because her weight went down to 92lbs.

She also said that she has only managed to gain 3lbs since the New Year.

According to her, she cried nonstop when she got her blood panel results. She also said that her Churg Strauss/EGPA is still being treated, “but to add to it my CREST SYNDROME is now in full ACTIVE mode”.

The former actress-host also revealed that she’s now starting to exhibit another autoimmune connective tissue disease, further adding to her health woes. According to her, she has symptoms showing that she’s “at the initial stage” of Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or the most common type of lupus.

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an SLE is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks its own tissues. This can cause widespread inflammation and tissue damage in the affected organs – including the joints, skin, lungs, kidneys, blood vessels, and brain.

It’s highly likely based on my ANA count, my high inflammatory numbers, my anemia, my now constant elevated blood pressure at night, and the consistent appearance of the ‘butterfly rash’ on my face that I’m at the initial stage of SLE (Systemic lupus erythematosus) or what’s commonly known as lupus,” she said.

The challenge now for the former actress-host is that she needs to gain weight so she can be given the drug Rituxan or Rituximab, saying it’s a risk because it’s normally given with steroids which her body reacts very adversely to. However, she said that her faith is still strong.

Kris also said that her battle with autoimmune diseases has “become more complex”, but she promised her sons and her sisters that she “won’t be a wimp”.

She even promised her friends and those who continue to pray for her that she won’t give up and “tuloy ang laban”.

Kris Aquino has been residing in the United States since June 2022 to get treatment for autoimmune diseases. She was recently visited by her showbiz friends Kim Chiu and Bela Padilla while they were on holiday in the US.
