TUMBLER – A woman whose car caught fire was gifted a brand-new car by Stanley, a 110-year-old U.S.-based company known for drinkware and gear.
The attention-grabbing factor was the undamaged Stanley tumbler left inside the burnt car, a popular product known as The Quencher H2.0 FlowState Tumbler, valued between $35 to $50. In a TikTok video by Danielle Lettering on November 16, 2023, the car’s driver’s seat and dashboard were visibly damaged, yet the orange Stanley tumbler in the cup holder near the stick shift remained intact.
Danielle took the tumbler, shook it, and the sound of ice clinking was heard, showcasing its advertised “double-wall vacuum insulation” that keeps water cold for 48 hours. The TikTok video quickly went viral with over 91 million views, catching the attention of Stanley’s president, Terence Reilley.
Impressed by the product’s resilience, Terence praised the quality of their items and decided to reward Danielle. Via the official TikTok account of Stanley, Terence conveyed the company’s intention to send Danielle replacement tumblers as a gesture of gratitude for inadvertently promoting their product. However, the surprise didn’t end there.
In a subsequent TikTok video on December 16, 2023, Danielle shared an update. Terence had informed her through direct messaging that, in an unprecedented move, Stanley would replace her burnt vehicle. The company went above and beyond and presented Danielle with a new white Mazda CX-90 2024 with a sunroof.
Danielle recounted her “crazy story” in the video, explaining how her car had caught fire on the highway, leaving her puzzled about the cause. The following day, she discovered her Stanley tumbler intact amid the wreckage at a junk shop, complete with ice still inside. The heartwarming gesture from Stanley turned a mishap into an unexpected positive outcome for Danielle, making her the recipient of not just replacement tumblers but also a new car.
