Sarah Geronimo Mourns the Passing of Kokoi Baldo

Sarah Geronimo Pays Tribute to the Late Kokoi Baldo

SARAH GERONIMO – The Popstar Royalty took to the social media platform Instagram to mourn the passing of reggae singer and The Voice of the Philippines contestant, Kokoi Baldo.

Juan Manuel Ubaldo, also known as Kokoi Baldo, passed away at 44 years old after a tragic incident in Bacolod City. The unfortunate event occurred around 1:30 in the morning on December 8, on the Circumferential Road in Barangay Mandalagan.

According to the preliminary police investigation, recounted by Dan Dela Cruz, the driver of the pickup, they were heading north, trailing a 10-wheeler truck loaded with sugarcane, driven by Benny Flor from Barangay Sampinit, Bago City. Allegedly, Baldo overtook both the pickup and the truck. However, tragedy struck as he was run over by the rear tire of the truck when they reached a curve, leading to his untimely demise.

Flor, the truck driver, was en route to Victorias City for sugarcane delivery, navigating cautiously due to the accident-prone nature of the area. He asserted not seeing Kokoi Baldo during the incident, a sentiment shared by the pickup driver. Flor is presently held in custody at Police Station 3’s custodial facility, while Ubaldo’s body is at ABE Funeral Homes.

Among those mourning the passing of the reggae singer is none other than his former The Voice PH coach, Sarah Geronimo. On Instagram, the Popstar Royalty posted a photo of Kokoi with the caption: “Maraming salamat at ibinahigi mo sa amin ang talento mo sa musika.. Marami po akong natutunan sa inyo lalo na ang prinsipyo nyo sa buhay. Maraming salamat Sir Kokoi. May your soul rest in God’s presence.”

Her post was then flooded with condolences from netizens. As of press time, the family of Kokoi Baldo has yet to provide details about the singer’s funeral.
