Vilma Santos on son Ryan: “Kaya niyang makipag-usap sa Presidente”
VILMA SANTOS – The Star For All Seasons thinks her only child with Ralph Recto, Ryan Christian, might inherit their political inclinations.
Rosa Vilma Tuazon Santos-Recto stands as an iconic figure in the Philippines, recognized for her multifaceted career spanning over five decades. She has made a remarkable impact as an actress, singer, dancer, TV host, producer, and politician. Her acting journey began as a child artist in the film “Trudis Liit” (1963), earning her first FAMAS Award.
Vilma’s versatility and range of roles across various genres led to numerous accolades and titles, including the “Star for All Seasons,” “Grand Slam Queen,” “Queen of Queens,” and “Longest Reigning Box Office Queen of Philippine Cinema.” Her portrayal of the superhero Darna and producing award-winning films like “Pagputi ng Uwak, Pag-itim ng Tagak” (1978) further solidified her status as a cinema legend.
Later, she transitioned into politics, serving as Batangas’ governor and mayor, eventually becoming a House Deputy Speaker and Representative of Batangas’ 6th district.
It was just recently when she was interviewed by Cristy Fermin on “Showbiz Now Na.” According to Vilma, her son Ryan Christian supposedly has the potential to become a politician because of his “warm” personality and his ability to converse with anyone.
“Si Ryan palagay ko baka siya magmana. Si Lucky [Luis Manzano] is more of mapagpatawa. I mean ‘yung wit niya ibang klase. Si Ryan is more of warm,” she said. “He’s a very warm person. Kaya niyang makipag-usap sa Presidente. Kaya niyang makipag-usap sa isang karaniwang manggagawa. And one thing I noticed with him, he’s also like me, touch person,” she added.
“Alam mo ‘yung kahit hindi niya kilala, hahawakan ka niya, ‘Kumusta ka. I’m Ryan.’ He’s very warm. So just in case maiisip ng anak kong pumasok sa politika, I think plus factor niya ‘yun. Mayroon siyang ganoong magic,” the Star For All Seasons continued.
