MAV GONZALES – The GMA reporter wondered why they heard Chinese radio stations when they visited Nueva Ecija.

Mav Gonzales is a well-known news anchor, sports, and Senate reporter for the popular Filipino television channel GMA 7. Born on November 14, 1989, in Quezon City, Philippines, Mav Gonzales has had an impressive academic journey, graduating as a class valedictorian and cum laude from Ateneo de Manila University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. She’s not only a pretty face but also a woman of faith and accomplishment.

Before becoming a Kapuso field reporter and news anchor, Mav had various work experiences in different media platforms, including being a student broadcaster, radio jockey, sports correspondent, courtside reporter, writer for print and online media, and host of web programs. In 2021, Mav co-hosted a TV show called “On Record” with Oscar Oida, focusing on bringing good vibes, and positivity, and showcasing special moments caught on camera.

Recently, she went to social media and posted a video in which she expressed her wonder about why they were hearing Chinese radio stations when they visited Nueva Ecija. In the video she captured, a foreign language resembling Chinese could be heard whenever they changed the radio frequency.

“So we visited Nueva Ecija and our radio just picked up random Chinese frequencies?? Can anyone explain?” Gonzales asked. “Sobrang dami naming istasyon na nadaanan na and sobrang daming nagtsi-Chinese, and the thing is nasa Nueva Ecija kami so sobrang layo namin sa dagat, malayo kami sa West Philippine Sea,” the journalist added.

She estimated that they discovered around a dozen Chinese radio stations reaching Nueva Ecija. According to some netizens, this occurrence has been happening in various provinces in the Philippines for a while now.
