Police officer tagged as person of interest in the disappearance of Catherine Camilon
CATHERINE CAMILON CASE – A police officer has been identified as a person of interest (POI) in the mysterious disappearance of Miss Grand Philippines 2023 candidate.
According to a report by GMA News Online, a close friend of Catherine approached her sister, Chin-chin Camilon, and alleged that the beauty queen and Grade 9 teacher were in a romantic relationship with the police officer. This person is said to have been with Catherine when she was reported missing. The same police officer allegedly provided Catherine with a Nissan Juke vehicle, which she was last seen driving.
As per PRO4A, the police officer has been relieved of his position and is currently in the custody of the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit. Acting Regional Director Brigadier General Paul Kenneth Lucas stated, “The removal of the police officer from his position is essential to ensure that the investigation remains free from potential influence and guarantees a fair and thorough examination of the case.”
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 4A is responsible for handling Catherine’s case, while the Regional Committee on Missing and Found Persons will conduct a separate administrative investigation.
Lucas further added, “We understand the concern of the family of Miss Camilon during this challenging time. We request everyone to refrain from speculating or disseminating unverified information. We will keep the media and the public informed as the investigation unfolds, and we will do everything in our power to find answers regarding this incident.”
On the same day, the police announced that the reward money for information leading to Catherine’s exact whereabouts had been increased to PHP250,000. The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) has contributed an additional reward of PHP50,000, with PHP100,000 coming from the business sector in Region 4A, and another PHP100,000 from Batangas Vice-Governor Mark Leviste.
