Lala Sotto Issues Statement Over Photo of Her Alleged Meeting With KSMBPI Members

Here’s the statement of Lala Sotto on her alleged meeting with KSMBPI members

LALA SOTTO – The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chairperson, has released a statement to dispel rumors surrounding photos from a meeting between the regulatory body and the Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters ng Pilipinas, Inc. (KSMBPI).

These photos have surfaced and widely circulated online, giving rise to speculations among some netizens that this meeting might have prompted KSMBPI to file a criminal complaint against Vice Ganda and Ion Perez.

As a reminder, KSMBPI, a group of social media broadcasters, reportedly lodged a criminal complaint against the hosts of “It’s Showtime” at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on Monday, September 11.

With the online dissemination of photos featuring KSMBPI and MTRCB, some netizens have started to speculate about whether the regulatory body had any role in influencing the decision to file a criminal complaint.

In her statement, Chair Lala quoted KSMBPI’s statement, affirming that the MTRCB had neither triggered nor influenced the decision to pursue the case. Chair Lala urged everyone not to interpret these photos with any malicious intent and encouraged a fair and unbiased perspective on the matter.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN asserted that their noontime show did not violate any laws, and they intend to appeal to the MTRCB for reconsideration of its resolution. If their motion for reconsideration is denied, they can further appeal to the Office of the President.

At present, Vice and Ion have not issued any statements regarding the charges brought against them but a Christian group supports the decision of MTRCB to suspend It’s Showtime for 12 days. The Christian Coalition Movement believes Vice and Ion’s actions violated the “rules of decent, moral, and good public program.”
