Markus Paterson Speaks On “Personal Preference” In Terms Of Dating

Markus Paterson: “Just don’t date someone in the same industry, especially in such a competitive industry”

MARKUS PATERSON – The “Pira-Pirasong Paraiso” actor recently spoke about his “personal preference” in terms of dating.

In an interview with Ogie Diaz, the actor said that he noticed in the industry that people are so competitive. He also said that the one thing that one shouldn’t be competitive is in relationships with someone.

Markus explained that one couldn’t help but be competitive with his/her significant other if they both actors looking for projects, adding that egos get hurt — especially for guys – if one becomes more famous than the other.

The actor also said that one shouldn’t date someone in the same industry, especially in such a competitive industry, in order to avoid having a competition with someone. He then clarified that he wasn’t referring to actress Janella Salvador in his statement, while confessing that he knew his statement would draw backlash from the public.

Baka isipin ng mga tao na para kay Jea ‘yun, eh alam niyang hindi naman para sa kanya ‘yun. Alam naman niya na mahal ko siya. Pero inexpect ko ‘yung bashing,” he said.

Markus also pointed out that he should have framed his statements about his sentiments better, so that other people would understand where he’s coming from.

To recall, it was last September 2022 when the actor shared one of the lessons he learned from his experiences from his past relationships. At that time, the actor said “never to f*cking date someone in the industry”.

Markus then told Ogie that he really looked like a devil when he said “don’t date someone in the industry” at that time, adding that he doesn’t blame his bashers for bashing him.

In the same interview, the actor sang praises for Janella and said that he “couldn’t ask for a better mother” for his son, Jude. He also said that he’s working towards being a better father by just showing his son the love that he deserves.

According to him, their son is their main priority. He also said that he’s “glad” that his relationship with Janella happened since she’s the “first one” who taught him how to “love unconditionally”.

Janella and Markus, who went public with their relationship in September 2020, introduced their son in January 2021 despite being born 3 months earlier. Markus confirmed their breakup in September 2022 and said that he and Janella have been “broken up for almost a year”.

The actor also revealed in an interview with Ogie Diaz that co-parenting with Janella became “natural” for both of them. He noted that he and Janella maintained an open communication when it comes to their son’s visits and providing financial support.

Markus then admitted that his relationship with Janella was “perfect” when they’re based in the United Kingdom, but “a lot of realities set in” when he and Janella returned to the Philippines.
