JOSE ANTONIO SANVICENTE – Charges Dropped Against SUV Driver Who Hit-and-Run Security Guard

Jose Antonio Sanvicente and security guard Christian Joseph Floralde settle hit-and-run case

JOSE ANTONIO SANVICENTE vs SECURITY GUARD – The charges against the driver of a sport utility vehicle, who was caught on video hitting and running over a security guard in Mandaluyong City last year, have been dropped due to a settlement reached between the parties involved. The incident, which occurred in June 2022, led to serious accusations of frustrated murder against Sanvicente.

Recently, the Mandaluyong court dismissed the charges after the victim, Christian Joseph Floralde, agreed to settle the case with Sanvicente. As a result, Sanvicente, who had pleaded not guilty during his arraignment before Judge Aileen Saquing-Agacita of the Mandaluyong Regional Trial Court Branch 213, is no longer facing criminal charges.

Floralde’s lawyer, Federico Biolena, confirmed the dismissal of the case but refrained from providing specific details about the settlement, citing its confidentiality. However, Biolena asserted that both parties came to a reasonable agreement without any external pressure or coercion.

The incident, which was captured on a dashcam video from another motorist, depicted Jose Antonio Sanvicente hitting Floralde with his Toyota RAV 4 while the security guard was on duty, directing traffic at an intersection near a mall in Barangay Wack-Wack. Shockingly, the video showed Sanvicente’s vehicle running over Floralde while he lay on the ground, sparking public outrage over the callousness of the act.

Following the incident, a police manhunt was initiated to apprehend Sanvicente. He later surrendered to Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., who was then the officer-in-charge of the Philippine National Police, at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
