Ice Seguerra Pays Tribute to Late Father-in-Law Ex-DILG Undersecretary Martin Diño

Here’s the tribute message of Ice Seguerra to Martin Diño

ICE SEGUERRA – The singer turned to social media to pay tribute to his late father-in-law, former Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Martin Diño.

The former government official and father of former Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Chairperson Liza Diño-Seguerra passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, due to stage 4 cancer. Liza announced her father’s passing through her Facebook account on the same day.

On the other hand, Ice took to social media to express his deep gratitude to his father-in-law, emphasizing how Martin treated him like his own child. In his post, he recalled the time he sought Martin’s blessing before marrying Liza.

Ice Seguerra reminisced about a conversation with Martin in which he asked for permission to marry his daughter. According to the singer, Martin quickly agreed and said he was happy because he believed Ice would take good care of Liza and Amara.

The singer also reflected on Martin’s long-standing dedication to the country, his children, and his battle with illness. “Matagal ka rin lumaban, Papa. Lumaban para sa bayan, para sa mga anak mo, at sa cancer. Pero ngayon, pwedeng pwede ka na magpahinga,” he noted.

Toward the end of his message, Ice declared his love for his late father-in-law. His post was accompanied by a photo from his and Liza’s second wedding in San Juan, Batangas, on January 8, 2015.

Meanwhile, Martin Diño served as a DILG Undersecretary under the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte. He also served as the chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority. In the 2016 elections, Diño filed a last-minute certificate of candidacy for president, but he withdrew, paving the way for Duterte to join the presidential race.
