Dagul Turns Emotional; Hopes His Daughter Gets Into Showbiz

Dagul turns emotional during an interview with Bernadette Sembrano

DAGUL – The former Goin Bulilit star couldn’t help but turn emotional while expressing his wish for his daughter to enter showbiz.

Dagul, whose real name is Romeo “Romy” Queddeng Pastrana is an actor, comedian, and politician. He is best recognized for his role as a host in the children’s sketch program Goin’ Bulilit. Despite his short height, he has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry.

Dagul’s acting career took off when he was discovered by singer-host Randy Santiago in 1998. Santiago gave him the nickname “Dagul,” a colloquial term in Pampanga that means tall or big, in contrast to Dagul’s physical stature. He initially started with smaller roles in movies such as Isprikitik, Walastik Kung Pumitik (1999) and Juan & Ted: Wanted (2000). However, his breakthrough came when he became Long Mejia’s sparring partner in the comedy sitcom Kool Ka Lang (2001) on GMA Network.

He became a mainstay in the sitcom Ok Fine Whatever (2003) and, most notably, in Goin’ Bulilit, where he has been the only adult cast member since the show’s inception. Director Edgar Mortiz played a pivotal role in providing regular employment to Dagul by casting him in the show. Unlike the child cast members who eventually “graduate,” Dagul remained an integral part of Goin’ Bulilit.

Recently, he appeared in the vlog of Bernadette Sembrano together with his daughter Jkhriez Pastrana. During the interview, Dagul couldn’t help but turn emotional as he plead to producers and artists to help her daughter in pursuing a career in showbiz.

Bernadette was amazed by Jkhriez’s talent in singing. She mentioned that she has a remarkable voice that stands out. Jkhriez expressed her desire to spoil his family if given the opportunity to become successful. She hoped for a time when they wouldn’t have to consider the price when buying things they wanted.
