Pokwang has achieved another milestone
POKWANG – The Kapuso comedy star and TV host has achieved another milestone in her life after being appointed as the “Queen Celebrity Icon Ambassadress” of Mrs. Universe Philippines.
Pokwang, whose real name is Marietta Tan Subong, is a multi-talented comedian, actress, television host, and singer. She gained prominence through a reality show on ABS-CBN and went on to appear in numerous dramas and sitcoms on the network.
Pokwang’s career took off after she participated in the reality talent show segment “Clown in a Million” on ABS-CBN, ultimately winning the competition. Since then, she has appeared in various dramas, sitcoms, and films, often portraying supporting characters. In 2011, she landed her first lead role in the film A Mother’s Story, playing the role of Medy, an overseas Filipino worker.
It was just recently when achieved another milestone in her life after being appointed as the “Queen Celebrity Icon Ambassadress” of Mrs. Universe Philippines. Pokwang shared a video of her funny ramp and the awarding of the sash on her Instagram.
“Thank you #MrsUniversemostExceptionalwoman2023, thank you @daddie_wowie @charo.laude for the recognition. It is truly an honor,” Pokwang captioned her post.
The coronation took place on the evening of June 18 at Rizal Park Hotel. Mrs. Universe Philippines explained that Pokwang still qualified for the title despite not being married and being a solo parent.
Aside from Mamang Pokie (Pokwang’s nickname), Andrea del Rosario was also crowned as Mrs. Universe Philippines Tourism 2023, while Jean Saburit became Mrs. Universe Philippines Classic 2023. The comedian-TV host advocates for the welfare of single parents, similar to her own situation.
