TikTok video of Aiko Melendez and Julian Trono inside the session hall
TIKTOK INSIDE SESSION HALL – Quezon City Councilor Aiko Melendez and SK President Julian Trono faced criticism from netizens after sharing a TikTok video of themselves dancing inside the session hall.
The video, taken before their session, featured Aiko and Julian dancing together. Many people questioned the appropriateness of their actions within the session hall, expressing disappointment and stating that it portrayed a negative image for actors-turned-politicians like them.
One critic, development worker Deo Enalpe, highlighted the lack of respect shown by their dance in government premises. Enalpe emphasized that while there’s nothing wrong with doing TikTok, it should be done with respect for the session hall, which is a place for making laws, not for TikTok. Enalpe called on Councilor Aiko Melendez and SK President Julian Trono to show respect.
Singer Leah Navarro also weighed in, suggesting that Aiko and Julian seemed unaware of the importance of their jobs. Navarro remarked that if they understood the significance of their roles, they would act accordingly, labeling their behavior as a sad display of ignorance.
Despite the criticisms, Aiko’s TikTok video inside the session hall remains posted. Additionally, she has another video featuring other councilors dancing alongside her.
The incident sparked a debate about the appropriate conduct of public officials and the image they should project in their positions. Netizens expressed their concerns about the perceived lack of professionalism and respect for the institution where important decisions are made.
As of press time, Aiko Melendez and Julian Trono are yet to issue any reaction to the criticisms that they have been receiving.
