Joey de Leon Turns Emotional While Narrating How One of Their Major Sponsors Checked on Them After Leaving Eat Bulaga

While narrating how one of their major sponsors checked on them after leaving Eat Bulaga, Joey de Leon couldn’t help but turn emotional

JOEY DE LEON – In a rare and touching moment, the public had the opportunity to witness the vulnerable side of one of the original hosts of the noontime show Eat Bulaga.

During an interview with News5, De Leon opened up about the emotional experience he had on the second day after their departure from Eat Bulaga and TAPE Inc., when they were approached by one of their major sponsors, the grocery chain Puregold.

De Leon expressed his feelings of embarrassment in front of Susan Co, the owner of Puregold, as they had reportedly received a substantial advance sponsorship from the company for Eat Bulaga, only to no longer be associated with the program.

However, to his surprise, Co reassured him they were not concerned about the money they had invested in Eat Bulaga. “Kayo okay ba kayo? ako naman bumaliktad (ng tanong) kasi nabalitaan ko parang nag-advance na sila ng malaking… hindi ako marunong sa sales e three years na ata ang in-advance sa show namin. Biglang kinat ako, sabi niya nagalit e,” shared Joey.

Co emphasized that the financial aspect was not necessary to them. Instead, she genuinely cared about the well-being of Joey and his colleagues. Her main concern was to ensure they were doing alright. Joey was deeply moved by this gesture and found himself shedding tears at that moment.

It is anticipated that Puregold will continue to be one of the major sponsors for the Dabarkads’ new show, signifying their ongoing support and partnership. It is worth noting that Joey de Leon, along with several other hosts who resigned from Eat Bulaga, made the decision to transfer to TV5, marking a significant career move for the group.
