Man Who Enters Schools in Manila to Steal Students’ Belongings Arrested

Man arrested for stealing from students in Manila schools

MANILA – A man was apprehended after entering a school and was caught on CCTV stealing a student’s cellphone and gadget. The suspect was later found to have also gained entry and stolen from three other private universities in the city.

The CCTV footage shows several students busy with their physical education class, temporarily leaving their belongings on the table. After a moment, a man wearing a white T-shirt and a sling bag approached, looked around, and discreetly kicked a cellphone towards him.

He quickly picked it up and tucked it into his sling bag. The man returned to the table and swiftly grabbed a tablet, which he placed in his bag before leaving as if nothing had happened.

Authorities apprehended the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Raymond Azaña, after more than two weeks. Investigation revealed that there were multiple complaints against Azaña, as he had victimized other students in three private universities in Manila.

A gun was found in Azaña’s possession, who admitted to entering schools to commit theft. “Nalulong po kasi ako sa sugal. Sanhi ng pagkakalulong nakakagawa po ako ng mali,” Azaña said.
