Rise Up cover by blind Pinay singer Alienette Coldfire
ALIENETTE COLDFIRE – The blind Pinay singer caught the netizens’ attention anew with her rendition of Rise Up by Andra Day.
Alienette, whose real name is Katchry Jewel Golbin, is a singer from the Philippines who rose to fame when she joined the France Got Talent in 2016. According to Alienette, her grandma taught her traditional Filipino songs when she was just two years old after realizing how good she could sing.
She was first exposed to singing contests while she was a young child, including interschool classical singing competitions and national pop singing competitions. Her audition for GMA’s Pinoy Pop Superstar, which she did when she was just 14 years old, is what she recalls as being her first performance at SM. A video of her performing Mariah Carey’s I’ll be There at SM City Iloilo later went viral, and she instantly became an internet sensation
Alienette’s love of the French language and singing drew her to France Got Talent in 2016. She had previously taken French as a college elective and learned the language in three years through blogs and online communities. And after hearing Edith Piaf’s La Vie en Rose, she became obsessed with learning all other French songs.
When she joined the 11th season of France Got Talent, she brought much honor to the country after placing third. Currently, she’s making waves online with her rendition of Rise Up by Andra Day. Watch the video below:
