A drunk guy allegedly attempted to attack Rowena Guanzon

ROWENA GUANZON – The former Comelec commissioner was captured via video confronting a drunk and violent guy who attempted to attack her.

Guanzon served as commissioner of Comelec from 2015 to 2022 under former President Benigno Aquino III and President Rodrigo Duterte. She also served as Mayor of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, and as Commission on Audit (COA) commissioner. She also served as chief of staff to late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, whom she still considers a role model.

It was on Sunday, January 29, 2023 when the highlights of Dinagsa Fesitval was held. Dinagsa is a vibrant Ati-atihan festival celebrated by the people of Northern Negros. The festival’s distinguishing feature is the “Lamhitanay,” in which residents and visitors roam the streets and smear paint in each other’s faces.

Among those who graced the event is no less then Rowena Guanzon. But the fun celebration was mixed up with tension when a drunk and violent guy allegedly tried to attack her. In a video posted by a certain Admar R. Vilando, Guanzon, who was furious at the time, can be heard shouting at the man.

According to her, the drunk and violent guy tried to attack her. Fortunately, the guy’s companions was there to prevent him.

“Tingnan nyo ito mga hindi taga Cadiz maki fiesta pero pag lasing, violent na. This man attempted to attack me, pinigilan ng mga kasama nya. Yho de fruta ! Nag sorry pero naka ngisi ang lasing,” she said.

In another tweet, Rowena Guanzon claimed that one of her “pamangkin” was “touched” and even mauled by probably the drunk and violent man. “Hinipuan ang pamngkin ko at binugbog. Sino ang hindi magagalit ? At matapang ha,lasing na susugurin pa ako. Sana hindi sya pinigilan,” she noted.
