Kris Lawrence: “The things they say to me don’t have anything to do with the issue but they’ll say it to hurt me.”
KRIS LAWRENCE – The singer revealed that the intense criticism he received for defending Alex Gonzaga affected his mental health.
The sister of Toni Gonzaga has been making a buzz online in the past few days after smearing a cake on the face of waiter named Allan Crisostomo. It happened during the pre-birthday celebration of the actress-vlogger.
Among those who defended her is singer Kris Lawrence. According to him, he did not regret defending Alex and give his opinion on the controversy.
Because of defending Alex, Kris was heavily cricitized by netizens. In an interview with PEP.ph, he revealed that his mental health was affected due to intense bashing he received. “Medyo nag-suffer na ang mental health ko,” the R&B Prince said.
Kris’s sadness went on due to the sad truth that some members of the media whom he considered friends allegedly took the lead in fueling the public, causing the criticisms against him on social media to escalate.
But he had no regrets because according to him, everything he said was true and he will stand by what he meant. “Since I grew up, ‘caking’ was a normal thing talaga at birthdays. So, for me and a lot of people who grew up in the States, it really is normal,” he explained.
The bashing he received really affected him and it reach to the point that he questioned himself. “It makes me question myself and my achievements in my life,” he said. “Now, I’m getting so much negative intention thrown at me, people go to the ends of the earth just to hurt my feelings,” he shared.
Meanwhile, Kris Lawrence will be meeting former actress-turned-licensed hypnotherapist Nancy Castiglione next week for a hypnotherapy session. The singer believes that hypnotherapy would solve the mental distress he’s going through right now due to the Alex Gonzaga-Allan Crisostomo birthday cake-smearing incident.
