Christian Bautista: “I guess may nakita silang future somehow and in-offer sa akin ‘yong song”
CHRISTIAN BAUTISTA – The OPM icon and balladeer recently shared the story behind his hit song “The Way You Look at Me”.
Christian Bautista’s hit song “The Way You Look at Me” is one of the most famous songs that propelled him to popularity.
In an interview on the latest episode of the “Updated With Nelson Canlas” podcast, the singer shared a story behind his hit song.
The singer revealed in an interview that the song was initially offered to him after he auditioned then in Warner Music. According to him, he likes to sing songs from Josh Groban.
Christian also shared that he felt he didn’t make the cut after he auditioned because the judges were not giving him positive feedback at that time.

The singer said that he was offered to do a song that, according to the music label, has been with them for a long time.
“Hindi lang alam kung kanino ibibigay na artist,” Christian said. “I guess may nakita silang future somehow and in-offer sa akin ‘yong song na ‘The Way You Look At Me’ after siguro a month or after a few weeks. And then nung narinig ko nga, ‘Wow! Ang ganda nito.’”
Christian also recalled when he’s with Warner Music.
The singer shared that Indonesians loved Filipino artists, especially veteran singer Jose Mari Chan. He added that the music label at that time was impressed with him and his new song so “they took a risk”.
“Nag-risk sila sa radio stations muna, and then nag-work. And then nag-invest sa concerts, and then road shows,” Christian shared.
The singer is set to hold his concert at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati on January 28, 2023.
