Here’s the legal advice of Chel Diokno to restaurant crews being disrespected by customers
CHEL DIOKNO – The lawyer and former senatorial candidate gave a legal advice to restaurant crews being disrespected by customers.
Atty. Chel Diokno stressed that customers were not always right especially if the crews and waiters of a certain restaurant are being disrespected. The lawyer said that if a restaurant staff felt that they were not being treated right, they have the right to complain.
“Puwede yang ituring na paglabag sa batas. Una ang pagpapahiya ng tao ay pwedeng ituring na ‘Unjust Vexation’ which any human conduct that causes annoyance, irritation, torment, distress or disturbance kahit na walang physical or mental harm na ginawa,” he said.
“Pangalawa pwede rin itong maging sanhi ng civil case for damages sa ilalim ng human relations provisions ng Civil Code,” he added.
Atty. Chel Diokno gave the advice amid the issue involving actress-television host Alex Gonzaga. The latter has been making a buzz online after smearing cake on the face of a waiter during her pre-birthday celebration.
Alex has already issued a public apology. In a statement, she stated that God taught her a difficult and important lesson on her special day. She then apologized to the waiter and her parents, saying she would “rise from this a wiser and better person”.
Prior to making an apology, the waiter identified as Allan Crisostomo wrote a letter to confirm that he already talked with the vlogger and accepted the actress’ apology. Apparently, radio anchor DJ Chacha questioned why he had to write a letter to prove to the public that he and Alex are already on good terms.
