Book Featuring ‘Alamat ng Sayote’ Story Goes Viral on Social Media

A Facebook user named Ma Donna has shared the photo of “Alamat ng mga gulay” book featuring ‘Alamat ng Sayote’. The photos quickly circulate online and garnered various reactions from the netizens.
In the photo, the book features the legend of ‘chayote’, which depict the story of female siblings. The younger girl is a picky eater and does not eat vegetables. She usually gives all veggies on her plate to her older sister.
The little girl frequently says “te sa’yo” whenever she refused to eat greens. One day, the siblings went to a feast and get plenty of food. The girl eats a lot of goods but gave all the vegetables to her sister.
The older girl suffered a heart attack and passed away after the feast. The kid chopped her sister’s body and made it as fertilizer until some plants grew. Eventually, the girl named the plant “Sayote”.
