Many people were moved by a father’s words to his future son-in-law. It was captured in a video posted on Tiktok by Rima Maria Balajadia last November 15, 2022.

It was taken at the “pamamanhikan” of her fiance John Adrian Benosa in Tarlac on June 18, 2022. The video in which Rima’s father, Rafael Balajadia, can be heard giving “bilin” toward John Adrian immediately went viral.

“Wag mo lang siyang sasaktan,” the father said.

The video has garnered 3.2 million views and 11,700 shares. It was also shared by 411,700 users, while 7,026 netizens left their thoughts in the comments section.

On Thursday, Rima was interviewed by PEP.ph. According to her, their love story began in 2011, when Rima “wrongly sent” a text message to Adrian. Since then they exchanged messages until they got to know each other. They became official in 2016. But their relationship didn’t last long because they were just college graduates and still young.

“Pero we remained as friends hanggang nakapag-usap ulit kami. Last 2020 naging kami po ulit,” said Rima, who’s a Grade 1 public school teacher.

It was on June 15, 2022 when their surprise proposal happened as they traveled to Palawan. Three days later, the “pamamanhikan” took place.

Both are now 26 years old and have talking about settling down. But Rima did not expect that her seafarer boyfriend would propose to her. They intend to have a simple garden wedding in Pampanga in July 2023.
