President Bongbong Marcos calls Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte as “Joy Beltran”
ARNOLD CLAVIO – The broadcast journalist reacted to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. calling the mayor of Quezon City, “Joy Beltran.”
A recent speech of the president at a gathering in QC on December 1 made a buzz online. In a video, President Marcos can be heard calling the mayor of Quezon City ‘Joy Beltran’ instead of Joy Belmonte.
It seems that Belmonte was surprised at the same time shocked when the president made the mistake. “Ang ating butihing alkalde ng Quezon City, Mayor ng Quezon City.. Mayor Joy Beltran,” Marcos said.
PBBM couldn’t help but laugh at his mistake and continued his speech. According to Clavio, everyone, even the president himself, makes “mistakes.” Some netizens gave their reaction to the mistake committed by the president.
@mzsuzkkyy noted: “Kung c leni lutang, ano po tawag sa kanya?” Another netizen commented: “Napaka sophomoric talaga. Can’t stand straight, can’t wear a semblance of formal clothing, can’t stand still. Did not review:”Ano pangalan ng mayor?” etc. Yan? They chose that over Leni?”
Some netizens were annoyed that he was unable to correct his error. In the previous election, the president backed Mike Defensor over Belmonte.
Meanwhile, Mayor Joy Belmonte whose real name is Maria Josefina Tanya Go Belmonte served as the 11th mayor of Quezon City since 2019. Prior to that, she served as vice mayor of QC from 2010 to 2019 under the leadership of Herbert Bautista. She’s a member of the local Serbisyo sa Bayan Party.
