The Girl Scouts of the Philippines have found their new Chief Girl Scout after 12 years.

Under the Girl Scouts of the Philippines charter, a woman president or the First Lady of the Philippines is designated as the Chief Girl Scout, thus, automatically making First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos the title holder.

First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos earned the “Chief Girl Scout” title during the investiture and installation ceremony held at Malacañang Palace’s Ceremonial Hall on November 3, 2022.

In her speech, the First Lady recognized the Girl Scouts of the Philippines for tirelessly delivering its mission to “prepare young women for their responsibilities in the home, the nation, and the world community”.

The First Lady said that the title is one she’s truly proud of.

It is a title that I will truly be proud of… not only because of its meaningful history but more so because it will allow me to help our young women cultivate the same values that I learned when I was a Girl Scout in school,” she said.

Lim-Yuson, for her part, said in her speech that the Girl Scouts of the Philippines is “thrilled” to have the First Lady as its Chief Girl Scout.

According to a report, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines’ Chief Girl Scout medal is the “highest award” given to the country’s girl scouts and is built on the total development of the woman’s physical, spiritual, emotional, mental, and social aspects.

The GSP’s Chief Girl Scout medal scheme mandates the country’s senior and cadet Girl Scouts to serve the community and to develop their leadership capabilities, perseverance, and sense of responsibility.
