VP Sara Duterte to PAO Chief Persida Acosta: “Why not chief justice, Ma’am?”

Will Acosta accept Sara Duterte’s offer to become chief justice?

SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President expressed her love for her former boss, Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Chief Persida Rueda-Acosta.

Acosta is the Chief Public Attorney of the Public Attorney’s Office. She finished fourth in the 1989 Bar Examinations.

She holds a Doctor of Social Development (GWA 1.20) degree from the University of the Philippines, Diliman in Quezon City.

She graduated from the Harvard Kennedy School’s Senior Executive Fellows Program and the Senior Executive Program on National and International Security.

Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo appointed Acosta as the PAO’s nationwide director on February 23, 2001. Since then, she has become a beacon of hope for indigents and other PAO clients seeking justice.

She also served as Chief Public Attorney during former President Benigno S. Aquino III’s administration, and she is honored to continue serving as Chief Public Attorney in President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s administration.

She’s still the Chief Public Attorney of PAO.

During the 7th Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Convention for Public Attorneys at the PICC in Pasay City on Thursday, she said Acosta is “my one day boss a long, long, time ago”.

According to her, she will support Acosta if ever she plans to run as a senator.

But if Acosta doesn’t want to become a senator, the vice president said that she can be the chairperson of the Commission on Audit or Supreme Court chief justice.

“You only need one vote there, Ma’am, the vote of the President of the Republic of the Philippines, and by the way, he is my friend. Or, why not chief justice, Ma’am, sa Supreme Court, ‘di ba?” she quipped.

  1. She deserved to be a chief justice… It’s her time to shine up.. It’s been a long time she served our nation… Now it’s her time too…to put in higher rank in government.. In addition… She is loyal and honest to serve people most specially to the indigent victim of injustices…
