PERCY LAPID – Several public officials and personalities condemned the killing of the broadcaster.

Percival Mabasa, also known as Percy Lapid, was shot dead on Monday evening, October 3, in Barangay Talon Dos, Las Piñas City.

Lapid was a columnist for Hataw and the host of the online broadcast program “Percy Lapid Fire” at DWBL 1242.

He was known for his furious commentaries on different happenings in the country, especially in politics.

According to the victim’s relative, Lapid was on his way home to do an online broadcast when he was shot several times at the gate of BF Resort Village at around 8:30 p.m.

Las Piñas City Police cited in an incident report that the victim was in his vehicle when a suspect on board a Toyota Fortuner suddenly bumped into the rear portion of his car, a Toyota Innova.

The police said that the other suspect, who was riding a motorcycle, shot the victim and fled in an unknown direction. The crime scene yielded two empty shells of unknown caliber.

Meanwhile, several public officials and personalities condemned the killing of the broadcaster.

Senators Robin Padilla and Risa Hontiveros, as well as lawyers Chel Diokno, Neri Colmenares, and Luke Espiritu, expressed their condolences to the broadcast journalist’s bereaved family.

The Philippine National Police said Tuesday that a special investigation task force has been formed to look into the fatal shooting.
